Xiaomi’s Continuous Commitment to Humanoid Robotics
The tech giant has been steadily unveiling its robotics milestones over the past few years . We have previously tracked their progress, including Xiaomi’s ambitious plans to deploy its CyberOne robot on active manufacturing lines , alongside CEO Lei Jun’s goal of integrating humanoid robots into Xiaomi’s factories at scale within the next five years .

Behind the scenes, industrial integration is already well underway . Earlier this year, Xiaomi confirmed that its humanoid robots had successfully completed continuous three-hour shifts at a self-tapping nut installation station within an automotive factory . The robots achieved a 90.2% success rate for simultaneous bilateral installation , easily keeping pace with the assembly line’s demanding 76-second cycle time .

On the hardware front , Xiaomi revealed a completely redesigned bionic hand . The upgraded hand is 60% more compact, bringing it down to the exact size of a human hand . Despite the smaller footprint, it boasts 64% more degrees of freedom, a full-palm tactile sensor covering 8,200 square millimeters , a lifespan exceeding 150,000 gripping cycles , and an innovative bionic sweat gland system designed to manage heat dissipation during prolonged operation .
Lei Jun also took to Weibo recently to celebrate the Xiaomi robotics team’s first-place finishes in two major international competitions , where they outperformed the runners-up by a significant margin . He reiterated that the ultimate goal of Xiaomi’s robotics division is practical utility —developing machines capable of executing complex tasks in real-world, dynamic environments rather than just controlled laboratory settings .
