OnePlus rolls out the February 2026 OxygenOS B40P02 update, featuring Photos app refinements, AI Writer upgrades, and enhanced system security.

OnePlus has officially begun the rollout of its February 2026 software update , bringing the OxygenOS version B40P02 to a wide range of smartphones and tablets. The deployment kicked off on February 5, 2026 , and is proceeding in a staged manner. Users can expect the update to reach all eligible devices by approximately March 5 . As is standard with OTA updates, patience is key ; the notification will arrive incrementally rather than hitting every device simultaneously .

Technically identified as version B40P02 (build number BRB1EX01 for smartphones and BRB3EX01 for tablets), this release is more than just a security patch . It introduces significant refinements to the Photos app , expands the capabilities of the AI Writer , enhances Private Safe functionality , and bolsters overall system stability .

The most user-facing changes in this update focus on the Photos app , which has received a comprehensive suite of upgrades. Navigation is now more fluid, with smoother gesture animations when swiping through your gallery . Video enthusiasts will appreciate a robust set of new editing tools , including the ability to cut, split, and stitch multiple clips, as well as add music, text, and speed adjustments directly within the app . On the AI front, the AI Eraser has been fine-tuned to leave fewer digital artifacts behind when removing objects, resulting in cleaner edits . Similarly, the Remove Reflections tool is now more effective at eliminating glare from document scans and portraits of subjects wearing glasses .

Creativity gets a boost with a new β€œPopout” feature in the Collage mode , allowing subjects to overlay the frame for a dynamic, layered look. Organization has also been streamlined , with filters now supporting Motion Photos, screenshots, and screen recordings to help users sort content easily. Furthermore, a new Auto Straighten tool helps salvage tilted shots of landscapes or architecture during the cropping process . Users on OxygenOS 16 with supported hardware will also notice faster thumbnail parsing, making gallery browsing significantly snappier .

Productivity features have also been expanded . The AI Writerβ€”exclusive to OxygenOS 16 on select devicesβ€”now boasts a versatile β€œWrite anything” option . This allows users to generate a variety of text formats, from formal business proposals and job descriptions to video scripts and personal letters, simply by prompting the AI .

For privacy-conscious users running OxygenOS 14 or higher, the Private Safe has been optimized for better workflow . Adding files to the safe is faster, and notably, users can now edit photos and videos directly within the secure environment without needing to unlock or export them first . Under the hood, the update applies general stability fixes to ensure a smoother daily experience .
