On Tuesday 📅, the company announced it reached a record-breaking 🏆 751 million total monthly active users (MAUs) during the fourth quarter of 2025. This figure represents an 11 percent increase year-over-year 📈 and marks a significant leap from the 713 million users reported in the third quarter.
The earnings report 📊 highlighted strong growth on the paid front as well, noting a 10 percent year-over-year rise in Premium subscribers 💎—climbing from 263 million to 290 million. Europe 🇪🇺 remains the Swedish audio giant’s largest market for premium subscriptions, accounting for 36 percent of the total, while North America 🌎 follows with 25 percent.
Spotify attributes much of this momentum to specific strategic drivers, particularly artificial intelligence 🤖. “We consider ourselves the R&D department for the music industry 🧪. Our job is to understand new technologies quickly and capture their potential, which we’ve done time and again,” Spotify Co-CEO Gustav Söderström said in a statement. “The entire industry stands to benefit from this [AI] paradigm shift ⚡ but we believe those who embrace this change and move fast, will benefit the most.” This aligns with the company’s move in late 2025 to purge low-quality AI “slop” from the platform 🧹, promising a pivot toward vaguely defined “artist-first AI music products 🎼.”
Beyond subscriber metrics, engagement soared ✨ thanks to the company’s viral year-end campaign. Spotify reported that December’s “Wrapped” experience 🎁 was its most successful to date, driving engagement from over 300 million users and generating 630 million shares 🔄 across 56 languages 🌐.
