Ahead of their expected debut at MWC, Tecno has quietly released the Camon 50 and Camon 50 Pro across select African markets . Despite the split naming convention, the two devices share a significant amount of DNA .
Both handsets utilize the same processing power , battery capacity, and display technology, along with nearly identical camera hardware . The primary distinction lies in the Pro model’s inclusion of a dedicated 3x periscope telephoto lens . Below is a breakdown of the technical specifics .

Under the hood, both the Tecno Camon 50 and the Camon 50 Pro are driven by MediaTek’s Helio G200 chipset , flanked by 8GB of RAM. Storage configurations differ slightly; the Pro model ships with 256GB, whereas the standard variant starts at 128GB .
Endurance is a key focus here, with a substantial 6,150mAh battery powering both units . When it is time to recharge, they both support 45W wired charging .
Visually, both phones offer a premium experience via a 6.78-inch AMOLED display , boasting a fluid 144Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. These panels also house an in-display fingerprint scanner and a 32-megapixel front-facing camera .

Design Distinctions
Aesthetically, the two diverge in form factor: the Pro model features a curved panel for a sleeker feel , while the standard Camon 50 opts for a traditional flat display .
On the rear, both devices utilize a 50-megapixel Sony LYT700C main sensor —the same capable hardware found in last year’s Camon 40 Pro—paired with an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens . However, the Camon 50 Pro sets itself apart with a 50-megapixel 3x periscope telephoto camera featuring optical image stabilization (OIS) .

In terms of pricing, the Camon 50 lands in Kenya at KES 37,500 (approximately $290) , while the Camon 50 Pro commands KES 44,000 (around $340). Both are currently up for pre-order . While Tecno has not yet announced 5G variants , those models may be reserved for the upcoming MWC 2026 showcase .
