📢 OnePlus has released its latest OxygenOS FAQ for January 2026, offering clarity 🔍 on a range of user concerns regarding bugs 🐛, system behaviors, and the update roadmap 🗺️. This month’s insights focus heavily on display anomalies 🖥️, screen casting stability, the nuances of battery charging 🔋, and new AI capabilities 🤖 included in the latest system build.

# OnePlus OxygenOS

🖥️ Display and Performance Clarifications

One prominent issue reported by the community involves screen flickering ⚡, green tints, or colored lines appearing specifically during WhatsApp 💬 video calls 📹. OnePlus has confirmed that the root cause has been identified and traced back to the application itself. Consequently, a resolution relies on a future update from WhatsApp developers rather than a system patch 🛠️.

Streaming performance 🎮 has also been a topic of discussion, with some users noting frame rate drops when casting their phone screen for live streaming. OnePlus acknowledges that this affects specific devices and has an optimization plan 📈 in the works for a future update. In the interim, users can mitigate the issue by utilizing the game casting feature within the Game Assistant 🕹️. By casting via O+ Connect—either through a QR code scan 🏁 or a USB connection 🔌 to a PC 💻—the system switches to a game casting mode that offers significantly better stability.

There is also clarity regarding customization ✨. OnePlus confirmed that certain device models simply do not support live wallpapers 🖼️. Currently, there are no plans to retroactively add compatibility for these devices 🚫, so users are encouraged to keep an eye on official channels for any potential changes in policy.

🔋 Understanding Battery Charging Logic

The company also took time to explain a common point of confusion: why battery usage stats don’t reset immediately when the charging icon hits 100 percent 💯. The charging process occurs in three distinct stages: fast charging 🚀, constant charging ⚡, and finally, trickle charging 💧. The UI displays 100 percent before the battery is actually fully saturated. The trickle charging phase takes approximately 20 minutes to complete, topping off capacity lost to self-discharge. The system is designed to reset usage time only after this final stage is finished to ensure accuracy 🎯.

✨ Feature Enhancements

Regarding productivity tools 🛠️, the AI Enhance feature 🤖 is now easily accessible. Users can simply open Notes 📝, tap the plus icon, select “Scan document,” 📄 and choose AI Enhance to optimize their files. Additionally, privacy controls 🔒 have been refined. The Private Safe search function has been upgraded, allowing users to search through private images, videos, audio, and documents directly via Settings > Security and privacy > Private Safe 🛡️.

🚀 System Update Rollout

Finally, OnePlus confirmed the rollout schedule 📅 for the OxygenOS B30P01 update. Distribution began on January 19, 2026, and is scheduled to conclude by February 5. This specific build is primarily focused on implementing the search improvements within Private Safe 🔍.

Why Next-Gen AI Smartphones May Ditch LPDDR for LLW 🪐

Published

By

As tech giants automate, the accelerating wave of AI layoffs is creating an economic powder keg. Discover the true impact of automation on the modern workforce.

Smartphones 📱 are hitting a major memory bottleneck, and it is not something a simple software update can resolve. While modern mobile processors are fully capable of running large language models (LLMs) locally, on-device AI 🧠 is pushing hardware to its absolute limits.

The real bottleneck lies in current LPDDR memory technology, which struggles to feed data to these processors fast enough to keep up with AI demands. It is this exact challenge 🎯 that forces AI datacenters to rely on ultra-fast High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) .

To bridge this gap, a new memory standard called LLW (Low Latency Wide DRAM) is currently in development 🧬, promising to solve the mobile bottleneck once and for all 🔮.

LLW: The HBM-Style Solution for Smartphones 🚀

LLW takes a page out of the HBM playbook. HBM achieves blistering speeds  by stacking multiple memory layers close to the processor and linking them through an incredibly wide interface. This architecture delivers massive bandwidth, potentially performing 10 to 15 times faster 💥 than today’s top-tier LPDDR memory.

However, traditional HBM requires complex packaging and heavy-duty cooling 🧊 that simply won’t fit inside a smartphone. LLW aims to deliver the best of both worlds: offering the high bandwidth and low latency of stacked memory without the thermal and physical space constraints that usually come with it 💎.

Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro: Early Adopters? 👀

Of course, these early rumors should be taken with a grain of salt 🧂. The current details stem from industry bloggers and tech tipsters rather than official manufacturer roadmaps.

According to a leak from tipster Fixed Focus Digital, LLW memory could slash power consumption by up to 50% 🔋 while simultaneously boosting overall performance by 1.5 times.

We will have to wait a while  to see this technology in action. The leak indicates that widespread adoption of LLW is still a few years away, with large-scale deployment not expected until the second half of 2027. When it does arrive, Xiaomi and Huawei are rumored to be among the first to adopt it, though neither brand has officially confirmed these plans 🏆.
