Xiaomi Buds 6 Specifications 🛠️

From a hardware perspective, the Buds 6 use a semi-in-ear design 👂. This means they rest in the ear without the silicone tips that seal the ear canal, similar to standard AirPods. Xiaomi says it has tweaked the ergonomics from previous models, reducing the stem thickness by 12% and the sound outlet by 11.3% to alleviate physical pressure ☁️. Each earbud weighs 4.4 grams 🪶, and the accompanying charging case is available in Graphite Black ⚫, Pearl White ⚪, Titan Gray 🔘, and Nebula Purple 🟣.

For audio 🔊, the earbuds are equipped with an 11mm triple-magnet dynamic driver and a 24k gold-plated diaphragm ✨. It supports Qualcomm’s aptX Lossless codec, which allows for transmission rates up to 2.1 Mbps at 24-bit/48kHz for compatible devices 🎶. Xiaomi also partnered with the Harman Golden Ear Team 🎼 for specific EQ tuning profiles and included an adaptive sound algorithm designed to adjust frequencies based on the shape of the user’s ear canal 📈.

The Buds 6 do feature active noise cancellation (ANC) 🔇, utilizing a three-microphone array 🎤 to filter out background noise and handle wind speeds up to 12m/s 🌬️ during calls 📞. However, because semi-in-ear designs do not create a physical seal, the ANC here is likely intended to reduce low-frequency ambient hums rather than provide the total isolation you would get from closed-fit alternatives.

The earbuds natively support both Apple’s Find My network 🍎 and Google’s Find Hub 🤖, making them highly versatile for users operating across different mobile ecosystems 📱. Xiaomi has also integrated a standalone audio recording function ⏺️; you can tap the charging case three times to instantly record live conversations or calls, even when the case lid is closed 🎙️.

Coming to the battery life 🔋, the earbuds offer up to six hours of playback on a single charge and a total of 35 hours with the case ⏳. The earbuds are IP54-rated for basic water and dust resistance 💧 and support multipoint Bluetooth for connecting to two devices simultaneously 🔗.

To incentivize early adoption 🎁, Xiaomi is bundling the earbuds with a three-month trial of Spotify Premium 🎵 for new subscribers, which can be redeemed through the Xiaomi Earbuds app until August 2026.

At the event, Xiaomi also introduced the Xiaomi 17T series 📱, the Xiaomi Smart Band 10 Pro ⌚, and the Xiaomi Sound Play Bluetooth speaker 🔊.

Why Next-Gen AI Smartphones May Ditch LPDDR for LLW 🪐

Published

on

By

As tech giants automate, the accelerating wave of AI layoffs is creating an economic powder keg. Discover the true impact of automation on the modern workforce.

Smartphones 📱 are hitting a major memory bottleneck, and it is not something a simple software update can resolve. While modern mobile processors are fully capable of running large language models (LLMs) locally, on-device AI 🧠 is pushing hardware to its absolute limits.

The real bottleneck lies in current LPDDR memory technology, which struggles to feed data to these processors fast enough to keep up with AI demands. It is this exact challenge 🎯 that forces AI datacenters to rely on ultra-fast High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) .

To bridge this gap, a new memory standard called LLW (Low Latency Wide DRAM) is currently in development 🧬, promising to solve the mobile bottleneck once and for all 🔮.

LLW: The HBM-Style Solution for Smartphones 🚀

LLW takes a page out of the HBM playbook. HBM achieves blistering speeds  by stacking multiple memory layers close to the processor and linking them through an incredibly wide interface. This architecture delivers massive bandwidth, potentially performing 10 to 15 times faster 💥 than today’s top-tier LPDDR memory.

However, traditional HBM requires complex packaging and heavy-duty cooling 🧊 that simply won’t fit inside a smartphone. LLW aims to deliver the best of both worlds: offering the high bandwidth and low latency of stacked memory without the thermal and physical space constraints that usually come with it 💎.

Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro: Early Adopters? 👀

Of course, these early rumors should be taken with a grain of salt 🧂. The current details stem from industry bloggers and tech tipsters rather than official manufacturer roadmaps.

According to a leak from tipster Fixed Focus Digital, LLW memory could slash power consumption by up to 50% 🔋 while simultaneously boosting overall performance by 1.5 times.

We will have to wait a while  to see this technology in action. The leak indicates that widespread adoption of LLW is still a few years away, with large-scale deployment not expected until the second half of 2027. When it does arrive, Xiaomi and Huawei are rumored to be among the first to adopt it, though neither brand has officially confirmed these plans 🏆.
