on

Acer announces the HD1500, a portable 1080p smart projector for €149. Featuring a 360-degree swivel stand and built-in Netflix, it's the ultimate budget home cinema.

Forget expensive TVs—Acer’s new €149 smart projector turns any wall (or ceiling) into a 1080p cinema with built-in Netflix and “obstacle-dodging” smart tech. 📺📽️✨

Acer has announced the HD1500, a new portable 1080p smart projector. 📢 It is priced at €149 and will be available in the EMEA region in Q3 2026, where it will be sold under the name AOpen QP30t. 🌍 It is a straightforward budget option for people who want to watch streaming video without setting up a permanent TV or home theater. 🍿💸

The design is built around an integrated swivel stand. 🔄 You can rotate the projector 360 degrees and tilt it up to 180 degrees. This means you can point it at a standard wall, angle it into a corner, or aim it straight up at the ceiling. 🏠☁️ It weighs 1.2 kg (about 2.6 lbs) and measures roughly 7.8 by 5.7 inches, making it relatively easy to carry from one room to another. 🎒⚖️

Inside, the projector uses an LCD panel and an LED light source to display a native 1920 x 1080 image. 🖼️ Acer lists the standard brightness at 350 ANSI lumens. In practical terms, 350 ANSI lumens means you will need a dark room to get a clear picture; it will struggle to compete with daylight or bright overhead lighting. 🌑💡 The throw ratio is 1.29, which produces a 70-inch screen if you place the device two meters away from the wall. 📏 The LED lamp has an estimated lifespan of up to 30,000 hours. ⏳

Because it is meant to be moved around frequently, Acer included several automated setup features to cut down on manual adjustments. 🤖 It has auto-focus and auto keystone correction to square up the image. 🎯 There is also an obstacle avoidance feature that uses a built-in sensor to detect things like light switches or picture frames on the wall, automatically shrinking and shifting the projection to avoid them. 🖼️🚫

For software, the HD1500 runs a built-in smart interface that supports standard streaming apps like Netflix and YouTube. 📱🎬 If you want to plug in external devices, the physical ports are minimal: one HDMI 1.4 port, one USB-A 2.0 port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. 🔌 It has two built-in 5W speakers, plus Bluetooth 5.4 if you prefer to connect your own wireless headphones or a soundbar. 🔊🎧

In related news, Acer has recently unveiled two AR smart glasses with distinct approaches and introduced new Snapdragon-powered laptops, including a Snapdragon X2 convertible and a budget-friendly Snapdragon C model. 👓💻🗞️

Why Next-Gen AI Smartphones May Ditch LPDDR for LLW 🪐

Published

By

As tech giants automate, the accelerating wave of AI layoffs is creating an economic powder keg. Discover the true impact of automation on the modern workforce.

Smartphones 📱 are hitting a major memory bottleneck, and it is not something a simple software update can resolve. While modern mobile processors are fully capable of running large language models (LLMs) locally, on-device AI 🧠 is pushing hardware to its absolute limits.

The real bottleneck lies in current LPDDR memory technology, which struggles to feed data to these processors fast enough to keep up with AI demands. It is this exact challenge 🎯 that forces AI datacenters to rely on ultra-fast High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) .

To bridge this gap, a new memory standard called LLW (Low Latency Wide DRAM) is currently in development 🧬, promising to solve the mobile bottleneck once and for all 🔮.

LLW: The HBM-Style Solution for Smartphones 🚀

LLW takes a page out of the HBM playbook. HBM achieves blistering speeds  by stacking multiple memory layers close to the processor and linking them through an incredibly wide interface. This architecture delivers massive bandwidth, potentially performing 10 to 15 times faster 💥 than today’s top-tier LPDDR memory.

However, traditional HBM requires complex packaging and heavy-duty cooling 🧊 that simply won’t fit inside a smartphone. LLW aims to deliver the best of both worlds: offering the high bandwidth and low latency of stacked memory without the thermal and physical space constraints that usually come with it 💎.

Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro: Early Adopters? 👀

Of course, these early rumors should be taken with a grain of salt 🧂. The current details stem from industry bloggers and tech tipsters rather than official manufacturer roadmaps.

According to a leak from tipster Fixed Focus Digital, LLW memory could slash power consumption by up to 50% 🔋 while simultaneously boosting overall performance by 1.5 times.

We will have to wait a while  to see this technology in action. The leak indicates that widespread adoption of LLW is still a few years away, with large-scale deployment not expected until the second half of 2027. When it does arrive, Xiaomi and Huawei are rumored to be among the first to adopt it, though neither brand has officially confirmed these plans 🏆.
