The Xiaomi 17 Ultra has officially made its debut on the DxOMark charts ✨, and to no one’s surprise, it has cemented itself as one of the premier camera phones currently on the market 📱. While it hasn’t quite claimed the absolute top spot on the leaderboard, its performance is undeniable 🚀.

According to the latest testing from DxOMark, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra achieved a camera score of 166 🔢, landing it in the 6th position overall 🏅.

DxOMark’s analysis praises the device for delivering a highly versatile photography experience 🖼️. Whether shooting with the ultra-wide lens or zooming in with the telephoto 🔭, the performance remains impressively consistent across all focal lengths 📏.

The lab also highlighted the camera’s ability to maintain natural subject exposure 💡, rich detail, and stable white balance in the vast majority of scenes. Color reproduction is noted as accurate as well 🎨, with noise kept firmly under control—even when lighting conditions are less than ideal 🔍.

Naturally, this performance is backed by significant hardware 🔩. The phone is equipped with a 50MP main camera featuring an f/1.7 aperture, 23mm focal length, dual-pixel phase detection autofocus, and optical image stabilization 📸.

This is paired with a 50MP ultra-wide shooter at f/2.2 and 14mm ↔️. However, the on-paper standout is the 200MP telephoto lens 💎, which boasts a variable f/2.4–3.0 aperture, a 75–100mm focal length, PDAF, OIS, and a 3.2x to 4.3x optical zoom range 🔭.

In terms of pure photographic capability, DxOMark awarded the device an overall photo score of 170 📊. Breaking that down by category, the main camera earned 171 points, bokeh effects scored 175 ✨, the ultra-wide managed 160, and zoom performance reached 169 🔍.

The telephoto performance was singled out as particularly high-level, delivering exceptional detail at longer ranges 🔭 and creating natural-looking background separation in portrait shots 🤳.

Video performance, however, is where the Xiaomi 17 Ultra reveals a few limitations 🎥. The overall video score came in at 157 🎬. While the main camera’s video output scored a solid 164, the ultra-wide and telephoto modules saw a drop in performance, scoring 144 and 132, respectively 📉.

DxOMark notes that while brightness and exposure are generally reliable both indoors and out, the device struggles more with low-light video than the very best in its class 🌙. Additionally, zoom transitions during recording can be noticeably jarring 🎞️.

There are a few other trade-offs to consider; for instance, group photos can occasionally result in foreground subjects appearing slightly out of focus 👥. Furthermore, while texture and noise are well-balanced in still images, that consistency doesn’t quite translate to low-light video recording 🌫️.

Regarding the competition, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra didn’t manage to unseat the Huawei Pura 80 Ultra from the top of the rankings 🏁. Nevertheless, it successfully outperformed several high-profile heavy hitters 🥊, including the Honor Magic 8 Pro, the Google Pixel 10 Pro XL, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max 🌟.
